At a recent press conference, Monaco CEO Tiago Scuro gave a detailed explanation of a series of deals before the transfer window closed, particularly Balogun's proposed move to Everton and Lamine Camara's move to Chelsea. Scuro emphasized that he wanted to clarify that Monaco had not reached any agreement with Chelsea, especially as the transfer mechanism in the Premier League made the situation more complicated.

“The Premier League has a special mechanism that allows clubs to request an additional hour to complete paperwork, and we did that.” Scuro said that in the final moments before the transfer window closed, all procedures involving Everton and Balogun were almost completed. He said: “I signed, Everton signed, but at the last moment, the player himself decided not to sign.”

The reason Balogun refused to sign surprised Scuro. He said: “The reason Balogun gave was, ‘The way the club treated me made me feel very uncomfortable. Everton's medical department questioned my physical condition and future prospects, which made me feel very bad. There is nothing wrong with my body, so I do not want to sign a long-term contract here.’ This is the real situation at the end of the transfer window.”

The series of transfer changes left Scuro very confused. He admitted: “To be honest, regarding these two players and everything that happened on the day of the deadline, this was also the first time I had experienced something like this. In my career, I have never gone through such a dramatic transfer deadline day.” He recalled that in the final two days before the window closed, they stayed in the office until 3 a.m. searching for solutions, which was an exhausting experience.

Although the transfers did not go through smoothly, Scuro was pleased that Lamine Camara ultimately stayed. He said: “We want to remain competitive on the pitch, we want to improve this season, and we are working hard toward that goal.” He also revealed that Monaco was still waiting for Balogun to return and hoped to communicate further with him to clarify the next steps.

Scuro emphasized that Balogun remains a Monaco player and still has the opportunity to stay. He added: “We have to respect the player's decision. The club did a lot of work and found solutions, but when Balogun admitted that he felt uncomfortable, we believed we could not force the situation.”

As Monaco's CEO, Scuro has always adhered to the principle of protecting the club's interests. He said: “My intention has always been the same: to do my job well and protect Monaco's interests. I do not want to have a conflict with Chelsea, and I do not want to go to war with Everton.” He believes that despite the challenges, everything he has done has been for the club, not for personal gain or to satisfy outside expectations.
