Ceballos: Grateful to Real Madrid, Mourinho understood my desire to return to Betis

The Utrera native was emotional during his official presentation. After the transfer was announced late at night and he completed his first training session on Wednesday, Ceballos was officially unveiled as a new Betis player. He attended the event together with Parrot, but Ceballos, Betis' biggest signing of the summer, was clearly the main focus.

Betis president Angel Haro said: "Everyone knows Ceballos. We welcome one of our own back home. He knows what this badge means. He has returned to Betis more mature and more complete than before, but he has always kept his Betis feeling. The club's door has always been open to him, but for the return to become reality, all sides needed to have the willingness. Now everything has been achieved, and a new story begins."

Sporting director Manu Fajardo said: "With Dani, we have gained status, experience and the Betis spirit. With him, we have strengthened a midfield line that is very rich and offers many options." After a video was played at the event, Ceballos said: "Thanks to everyone who made this happen, and thanks to all Betis supporters. I am at home, in the place where I grew up. I feel nervous about this new journey. What I see is a very strong Betis, and I am here to make it stronger. Now is the time to put words aside and repay with actions the love that the supporters have given me over these years."

Speaking about his debut, Ceballos said: "Whenever Pellegrini needs me, I am ready to play. Whether I feature is his decision. I am not yet at 100 percent, but I will return to my best condition as soon as possible." He also said: "I feel happy, relieved and full of expectations. I played for the best club in history, and now I am at home, where I want to be. There had been rumors for several years that this return could happen, but now the time has finally arrived. What could be better than returning to a Betis team that can play in the Champions League?"

Speaking about Pablo Garcia, Ceballos said: "He is one of our own. I can only tell him to enjoy football. The most important thing is to first establish himself in the first team and be happy. I hope he can score as many goals as possible, because if he plays well, we will all be happy." Regarding Pellegrini, he said: "He allows me to fully enjoy myself. This season is a challenge for everyone. The coach will need 25 players, and that is the key point."

Regarding the transfer negotiations, Ceballos said: "The moment has finally arrived. It was not last year, not the year before, and not five years ago. I have two daughters, and they are what make me happiest. Seville is the city that is most suitable for them to grow up in." Speaking about Real Madrid, he said: "I can only thank Real Madrid. I spoke with Mourinho, and he understood that I wanted to complete the circle. The club president also helped make this happen. I can only feel grateful to Real Madrid. I was never worried that the deal would fall through. The club always reassured me, but we had to wait for that moment, for everything to align. Now the time has come, and it happened."
