Chelsea Reject Moves for Bissouma and Wijnaldum

According to reports, Chelsea had the opportunity to sign former Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma, who is currently a free agent. However, the Blues appear unlikely to pursue the deal and will also not sign former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

Both players left their respective clubs after the end of the 2025/26 season, but according to The Sun, Chelsea will not bring in either of them.

Bissouma was reportedly quite interested in the prospect of signing a short-term contract to remain in the Premier League, and his availability has also attracted interest from Ajax and Monaco. It remains unclear whether other clubs in England will make a move to sign him.

Chelsea are lacking depth in midfield.

Chelsea may not give much consideration to this type of free agent, as there are often reasons why players are without a club. Bissouma struggled at Tottenham, and although he showed great potential during his time at Brighton, adding him to Xabi Alonso's squad at Stamford Bridge appears to make little sense.
