Liverpool attempted to sign Crystal Palace attacker Ismaïla Sarr during the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old Senegal international has been a key player for Crystal Palace since joining the club and helped the team win the UEFA Conference League last season.

He is also regarded as one of the league's top attacking players, scoring 21 goals across all competitions last season. Sarr has caused Liverpool problems on multiple occasions in the past, and the Reds are very familiar with his qualities. Liverpool need to add more energy and depth to their attack, so their interest in the Senegal international is not surprising.

However, they were unable to complete the deal during the summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider, after failing to reach an agreement before the summer deadline, Liverpool are now preparing to pursue the player again in January.

Pete O'Rourke told Football Insider: “A deal in January is possible. Obviously, Liverpool did try to sign him before the deadline, but Crystal Palace were unwilling to let him leave.”

“Sarr's representatives questioned why his desire to move to Anfield was not fulfilled.”

“The failed transfer was a major blow for Sarr. The key thing for Crystal Palace now is to get him back to his best form and have him give everything for the team before the January window opens.”
