Ornstein: Bournemouth Insisted on Keeping Core Players This Summer, Scott Did Not Leave

David Ornstein explained Bournemouth's transfer strategy this summer, a strategy that helped them retain their star players.

Bournemouth faced Newcastle in the early kick-off match this afternoon. Unlike the Magpies, who underwent major squad changes, the Cherries focused on maintaining squad stability and successfully achieved that goal.

Despite strong interest from multiple clubs, Bournemouth did not sell any of their star players. Transfer expert David Ornstein explained the situation on TNT Sports before the match at St James' Park.

"Bournemouth have become a remarkable example of stability and progression... From the start of the transfer window, they were adamant that their key players would stay. Alex Scott, in their view, had absolutely no chance of leaving," Ornstein said.

Ornstein also added: "Alex Scott was Chelsea's main target. They did pursue him very strongly. But these players are not for sale. They are in a very good financial position after their recent sales... This is the club's decision. You can bid as much as you want, but it is not going to happen."

There is speculation that new contracts for top stars including Scott and Rayan may contain release clauses, which could change the negotiation landscape next summer. Chelsea will not easily give up their pursuit of Scott. But for now, Bournemouth can focus on a strong start to the new season and enjoy a European campaign after successfully protecting their existing assets.
