Felipe Luis: I don't know Golovin's future, but I hope he stays

Felipe Luis has made no secret of his desire for Golovin to continue staying at Monaco. After Monaco's victory over Paris Saint-Germain, when asked about the future of the Russian midfielder, the Monaco coach spoke highly of his player.

Felipe Luis said: "Honestly, I don't know. I hope he stays. He is an exceptional player. He is different from others, and it is very difficult to find a player as strong as him," he said.

The 30-year-old Golovin has made a good start to the season, having already provided two assists, the first against Marseille and the second this Friday against Paris Saint-Germain. These performances further highlight the Russian player's importance in Felipe Luis's tactics, although his future remains uncertain.

Golovin's contract runs until 2029, and he is also attracted by the possibility of returning to Russia, with Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow both interested in him. Monaco had already spoken with Zenit earlier this summer, when the club asked for around 25 million euros for the player.

Selling Golovin would allow the club to recover a considerable amount of money while also moving on one of the highest-paid players in the squad. Monaco still needs to continue cutting expenses to meet DNCG requirements. Thilo Kehrer’s loan move to Ajax has reflected this approach, and Papu Cabral could also move to Al Ahli for around 10 million euros. Despite these financial pressures, Felipe Luis still hopes not to lose one of his key players.
