Carrick: Manchester United Can Still Challenge for the Premier League Title Despite Lower Spending Than Rivals

Michael Carrick insisted that despite Manchester United having a significant gap in transfer-market spending compared with their rivals, they can still compete for the Premier League title.

Manchester United signed three midfielders this summer, with an initial cost of £148 million. Manchester City's spending was approximately three times that of United, including the £125 million signing of Enzo Fernandez, which matched the British transfer record. Chelsea's spending exceeded £300 million, with Morgan Rogers' deal valued at £117 million.

However, Carrick believes money does not guarantee success on the pitch. His confidence comes from his belief that the squad is stronger than last season, when the team earned the most points after he returned to manage at Old Trafford in January.

He said: "I am sure we can compete. I think the challenge is finding the right motivation, the right balance, bringing the right players together, and having the best players in the squad drive the whole team, whether you need experienced players or younger players. Ultimately, how much money is spent, I understand that can be a big thing. It is not always the answer, but it can be part of the answer."
