In the second round of the Bundesliga, Schalke held Bayern Munich to a 0-0 clean-sheet draw, ending their 12-match losing streak against Bayern. Goalkeeper Karius made five saves and was named the Player of the Match.
Schalke 04 ended Bayern's remarkable run of scoring in 58 consecutive matches across all competitions. Since the start of last season, no team had been able to keep Bayern from scoring.
The previous team to keep Bayern scoreless was Paris Saint-Germain, in the quarterfinal of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, when Bayern were eliminated after a 0-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
