Mundo Deportivo: Ten Hag Says Nainggolan Wants to Stay, Barcelona Once Made an €8 Million Offer

According to Mundo Deportivo, Twente technical director Ten Hag said that 18-year-old Nestaed has no intention of leaving the club, despite Barcelona showing strong interest in him during the summer transfer window.

Barcelona closely followed Nestaed during the previous transfer window, with the player regarded as one of the most promising young talents in Dutch football. However, Twente refused to let the 18-year-old defender leave, and Nestaed will continue to stay in Enschede this season.

Twente's current technical director Erik ten Hag said in an interview with RTV Oost that although several major clubs were interested in Nestaed, the player had never shown any desire to leave.

Ten Hag admitted: "It is no secret that many big clubs are interested in Nestaed."

However, the former Manchester United manager denied that Nestaed had tried to force a transfer. He said: "He wants to stay here. We did not renew his contract with him for no reason. He wants to continue developing here, at least help us achieve success this season, and then we will see what happens afterwards."

Nestaed renewed his contract with Twente in June this year, extending his deal until 2029. Through the new contract, the Dutch club hopes to retain one of the most promising players to have emerged from its academy system.

This summer, the centre-back was frequently linked with Barcelona. Barcelona once made an offer of around €8 million, but Twente believed the bid did not meet expectations and rejected the deal.

Ten Hag maintained a firm stance and made it clear from the beginning that the club had no intention of letting Nestaed leave. Twente plans to allow Nestaed to continue developing with the first team this season before reassessing his future.
