Chinese Super League Situation Analysis: Three Teams Drop Out of Title Race Four Rounds Early, Championship Battle Down to Chengdu Rongcheng and Dalian Yingbo

Several matches from the 26th round of the Chinese Super League concluded on the evening of September 5 Beijing time. In this round, West Coast, Beijing Guoan and Taishan all ended with draws, meaning they have withdrawn from the Chinese Super League title race with four rounds remaining. Chengdu Rongcheng's only current challenger is Dalian Yingbo.

Before this round, West Coast, Yingbo, Guoan and Taishan all theoretically posed some threat to Rongcheng's title hopes. However, after this round of matches, West Coast drew 2-2 with Three Towns, Guoan drew 0-0 with Shanghai Port, and Taishan drew 1-1 with Xinpengcheng.

As the competition progresses, even if Guoan, West Coast and Taishan win all of their remaining four matches, their points totals still cannot surpass current league leaders Chengdu Rongcheng. This means the three teams have effectively been eliminated from the title race in theoretical terms ahead of schedule.

Meanwhile, Dalian Yingbo reached 40 points after defeating Qingdao Hainiu 2-1 at home. If they continue to take maximum points in their next four matches, their total would rise to 52 points, making them the only remaining team capable of threatening Rongcheng's title bid.

It should be noted that Chengdu Rongcheng still holds the initiative in the title race. If they defeat Henan away from home in their match tomorrow, their points total will rise to 54, allowing them to secure the championship ahead of schedule.

If the match only ends in a draw, they will not be able to lift the trophy early because Rongcheng is at a disadvantage in their head-to-head record against Yingbo. Therefore, the suspense surrounding the Chinese Super League title will have to continue into the next round.
