Official: 17-year-old Kylan Thompson signs first professional contract with Newcastle United

Officially, Newcastle United announced that 17-year-old prospect Kylan Thompson has signed the first professional contract of his career with the club.

Kylan Thompson completed the signing on his 17th birthday. The London-born forward previously represented the England U17 national team. In August this year, he joined Newcastle United from Arsenal's academy, having previously also been part of West Ham United's academy.

Last season, Kylan Thompson made his Premier League 2 debut at the age of 16 and represented Arsenal in the 2025/26 UEFA Youth League. He scored in Arsenal's 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich.

After joining Newcastle United, Kylan Thompson quickly earned opportunities to play. He made his Newcastle U18 debut in the team's 3-2 win over Stoke City, and then scored his first goal for Newcastle U18 in a 4-1 away victory against Leicester City.

Kylan Thompson said he is very excited about the future: "I have put in a lot of hard work to sign my first professional contract. I believe joining Newcastle is the right step towards my goals. I am very happy to be here and I am also very excited about the future."

Speaking about his qualities, he said: "My strengths should be dribbling, cutting inside, and being able to play the ball behind the defensive line. I am a technical player who enjoys creating chances for the team and scoring goals."

Kylan Thompson revealed that the opportunity to play in U21 matches and train with the first team was an important reason for choosing to join Newcastle. He hopes to experience senior football as soon as possible and continue working towards the goal of reaching the first team.
