Sesko: It is really painful when the opponent scores the final shot that decides the result

Benjamin, I know ending the match in this way must have been a very disappointing result for you and the whole team. How are you feeling now? How is your mood?

Very, very disappointed, that is obviously clear. Because at that time we were so close to victory, but in the end it felt so far away again. And when you concede in this way, especially in those very final minutes, when it happens right in front of you, it is very painful for everyone. Everyone on the pitch gave everything and held nothing back. Everyone was fighting as hard as possible to try to win the game because we really wanted to win.

Everyone here, everyone involved, had an enormous desire for victory. Then, in moments like this, when you cannot win the game, when the opponent takes that final shot that directly decides the result, it is really, really painful.

Especially because, as you mentioned, that fighting energy was there, and you were part of it—you came on as a substitute, brought energy to the team, and scored for Manchester United. If we only look at that moment, when you put the ball into the net, that must have felt amazing for you, right?

No, it was unbelievable. For me, it is obvious that scoring a goal is the best feeling in the world, especially scoring for a great club like Manchester United. When I can contribute a goal for the team, help the team get points and earn points in the league table, that is ultimately my responsibility, my job.

And yes, being back on the pitch, being with my teammates again and experiencing and enjoying all the matches again feels really great. And yes, of course I would have preferred us to win today. That would have been perfect, but yes, I cannot change what has already happened.
