Valencia Coach Corberan: This Situation Will Affect All of Us, But We Will Not Fall

Valencia head coach Corberan said the team's current situation has affected everyone, but they will not be knocked down, and he is confident they can change the team's trajectory.

Corberan spoke to the media after Valencia suffered a 0-5 defeat to Barcelona. The focus of that night was not only the scoreline. Asked how he would assess this match if he had previously described the game against Deportivo La Coruna as a disgrace, Corberan said: "Today I am analyzing a match in which the opponent was stronger than us from start to finish. Conceding so quickly at the beginning made everything very difficult. We failed to take advantage of the quick counterattack opportunities after conceding, and those chances should have been important. The opponent then found a way to break us down. After the third goal, it was very difficult to turn the situation around."

We accept all criticism now, because the fans started the season with high expectations, and as the coach, I have failed to allow everyone to maintain those expectations and failed to reach that level. Asked whether he still had the motivation and strength, and whether he would consider resigning, Corberan said: "Since I took this job, I have always had the strength and belief. I have the responsibility to bring this team out of a situation that is more complicated than last year. But with belief and hard work, we must turn things around."

Regarding the solution for Valencia, Corberan said: "Today I did not see an attitude problem. What I saw was that Barcelona brought more than we did. Ultimately, everyone here has to take responsibility for what we are experiencing now, and only we can change Valencia's direction. With this sense of responsibility, we face the situation in front of us."

Regarding the team's ability to respond and how he would explain the situation to chairman Kiat-Lin, Corberan said: "My conversations with Kiat have always been honest and sincere, and I will make him feel our needs and concerns.
