Arsenal and Manchester City Monitor Pacho as PSG’s New Contract Could Become Transfer Obstacle

Arsenal and Manchester City are continuing to monitor Paris Saint-Germain defender William Pacho, with both Premier League clubs considering strengthening their defensive lines in the future.

The 24-year-old Ecuador international has developed into one of Europe’s leading left-footed centre-backs since joining PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024. His speed, physical ability, and composure in possession make him particularly suited to teams looking to defend proactively and build attacks from the back.

However, a major development at PSG has made any potential January transfer more complicated.

According to CaughtOffside, sources close to the agent industry revealed that both Arsenal and Manchester City have prepared detailed scouting reports on Pacho and watched him in person during PSG’s recent 2-2 draw with Lille.

Liverpool and Real Madrid had previously also monitored the Ecuadorian player, but there are currently no formal negotiations or offers.

Reports indicate that Arsenal view Pacho as another high-level left-footed defensive option, while Manchester City believe his passing ability and recovery speed fit their possession-based system.

However, PSG have now significantly strengthened their negotiating position. Reuters confirmed that Pacho has signed a new contract running until 2031, extending his previous agreement by two years.

This season, he has started all three of PSG’s Ligue 1 matches and played the full 90 minutes in each game.
