Former Barcelona winger Tello announces retirement, scored 21 goals during his time at Barca

According to Foot Mercato, 35-year-old former Barcelona winger Tello has announced the end of his professional career, having previously made 512 appearances.

Tello came through La Masia and went on to play for Barcelona, Porto, Fiorentina, Real Betis, Sevilla, and Los Angeles FC during his career. His final destination was Palm City FC in the United Arab Emirates.

During his time at Barcelona, he scored 21 goals and won several trophies with the team, including the La Liga title, Copa del Rey title, and MLS title. He also made one appearance for the Spain national team in 2013.

At the time of his farewell, Tello left a heartfelt message on social media: “Today, it is time to say goodbye to a part of my life. After so many years, so many matches, so many dressing rooms, so many happy moments and some difficult ones, now is the time to end my professional football career. Football has given me everything. It allowed me to achieve dreams that once seemed impossible, introduced me to many people who will always remain by my side, and let me experience moments that will stay forever engraved in my memory. I was fortunate to wear shirts that meant so much to me and to share this journey with teammates, coaches, club staff, friends, and especially my family. Thank you to everyone who ever encouraged me, supported me, criticized me, or simply accompanied me: thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. As I leave, I feel at peace because I know I have given everything to this sport, and I am incredibly proud of the path I have taken. Today, my career as a professional player ends, but everything football has taught me will remain with me forever. Thank you, football.”
