Recently, Atalanta midfielder Ederson was interviewed by Brazilian media outlet Trivela, discussing his physical condition after his failed summer transfer to Manchester United.

Ederson: My physical condition has always been good, and I passed all checks before the new season

Manchester United had originally agreed this summer to sign Ederson for £39 million as a replacement for Casemiro, who was set to leave. However, during the medical examination, United discovered that Ederson had a relatively serious knee injury and decided to halt the transfer. Manchester United then turned to signing Youri Tielemans, Andre Santos and Carlos Baleba, while Ederson renewed his contract with Atalanta.

Ederson said: "I am fine now, and actually I have always been this way. In terms of my physical condition, I have nothing to complain about. I have always been very fortunate in this regard, and my physical condition has always been good. The injuries that affected my chances of being selected for the national team were all minor and only kept me out for a few days. It was just unfortunate that they happened very close to the national team training camps. So I have always recovered quickly. I have never suffered any injury that kept me out for a long period of time."

Ederson emphasized that he returned to Atalanta early in an attempt to regain the physical condition he had lost during the match period, and said he did not encounter any problems throughout the process.

He added: "I completed the entire preparation period without any problems, passed all the checks, and then started the new season as usual. I am in very good shape now and can continue competing throughout the whole season. Atalanta also knows me very well."

Ederson has now become Atalanta's new captain and has started every match the team has played so far this season. He once again emphasized that he maintains a good relationship with the club.

The midfielder said: "I have always had a lot of communication with the club, and our relationship is very good. Whenever another club made inquiries or submitted an offer, I would ask what Atalanta's plans were, what their project was, and whether they were considering selling me, and they never considered selling me."

Last month, before Atalanta's UEFA Conference League playoff match against Hapoel Tel Aviv, Ederson spoke about the transfer that failed to happen. He said at the time: "To be honest, I don't know what happened. I have always attracted interest from other clubs, and I could have joined another English team. The medical examination went very smoothly, and I don't know what changed. I have been at Atalanta for four years and have always played. I could have waited to see how things developed, but my good relationship with the club made me decide to stay and sign a new contract."
