Szoboszlai: I am ready to take on leadership responsibilities

Speaking in an interview with TNT Sports, Szoboszlai said he is ready to take on an official leadership role at Liverpool.

Iraola appointed Szoboszlai, Alisson Becker and Joe Gomez as the team's vice-captains last month.

Szoboszlai, who is captain of the Hungary national team, signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool in July. In a conversation with Liverpool legend and former captain Gerrard, he discussed how he will carry out his leadership duties.

Szoboszlai said: "I think so, yes, I am ready. To be honest, this is the longest time I have spent at one club, because I have never stayed at a club for this long before. This is my fourth season."

"I will try to give my best every day, in every game and every training session. Sometimes I may not say much in the dressing room, because we have other types of players for that, such as Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Alisson, who have more experience."

"Yes, I will try to lead by example. I can also speak... I think both are needed, but I prefer to speak on the pitch and express myself through my performances and actions."

Szoboszlai also spoke about the enjoyment of playing under Iraola. He said: "I like him, I really like him. I know his style of play is very direct and intense, and I like that very much."

"This is what we were missing last season. If we can bring back this intensity, show a stronger desire to win than our opponents, and we also have this quality, then when these two things come together, nobody can stop us."

"I spoke with Kerkez. He previously worked with Iraola at Bournemouth, so I actually expected this because he said: 'We have to push, we have to run, give everything, and when it is one-on-one, we have to go one-on-one.' That is exactly what I like. I want to fight, and we should not be afraid of anyone."

"As Liverpool, we should pay attention to what other teams are doing, but they should be paying more attention to what we are doing. So, let's make everything perfect and then see the result. Let them think: 'Liverpool are coming, what are we going to do now?'"
