Manchester United fan group calls for peaceful protest before Manchester derby over season-ticket ban handling

Manchester United supporters have been urged to unite for a peaceful protest before Sunday's derby against Manchester City, in response to what fan representatives have called the "season-ticket ban fiasco".

The club's summer crackdown on ticket touting has drawn widespread criticism, with supporters arguing that the strict approach unfairly punishes innocent matchgoing fans and leaves them facing the threat of sanctions.

Fan group The 1958 said "the line has been crossed" and called on supporters to "stand together" outside Old Trafford before kick-off.

A spokesperson for the group said: "After reports that fans have been suspended and had season-ticket punishments imposed without always receiving clear and strong evidence, Manchester United fan groups are being called to stand together."

The spokesperson said: "For generations, Red Devils fans who attend matches have given Manchester United their time, money and loyalty, whether at home or away. That loyalty deserves respect."

"This is not about one group or one person, but about how Manchester United treats the supporters who attend matches. It may not affect you today, and it may not affect you next time, but this day will eventually come for each of us."

"All Red Devils. All groups. One voice. Show the evidence. Lift the bans."

The group called on all fan factions to put aside past differences and gather outside the Bishop Blaize pub near the stadium at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

In July, the group jointly signed a statement condemning the club's measures, expressing a shared feeling of "bans first, questions later".

In August, Manchester United said an independent review of ticketing platform activity from March to June "found large-scale organised touting", but the club also acknowledged that the investigation "caused serious concern and distress for some supporters".
