On Tuesday Beijing time, the new Champions League season's league phase begins, with Borussia Dortmund hosting Villarreal. This is the fifth round meeting between the two teams in this season's Champions League league phase, and their second encounter in the competition.
Dortmund won 4-0 at home in the previous meeting

The previous match took place last November, when Borussia Dortmund defeated Villarreal 4-0 at home. Serhou Guirassy scored twice, in the 45+2nd and 54th minutes, Karim Adeyemi scored in the 58th minute, and Daniel Svensson added another goal in the 90+5th minute. Villarreal were reduced to 10 men in the 52nd minute after Juan Foyth received a red card.
That victory gave Dortmund three consecutive wins against La Liga teams, with an aggregate score of 11-2. The number of wins equaled their total number of victories in their previous 13 matches against Spanish teams, in which they lost seven and drew three.
Dortmund's Champions League home record is strong
In their last 23 Champions League home matches, Borussia Dortmund have recorded 14 wins and 7 draws, losing only twice, to Barcelona and Inter Milan. In their last five home matches against La Liga teams, they have won four and lost one.
In the last two Champions League campaigns, Guirassy has directly contributed to 24 goals in 24 appearances, including 17 goals and 7 assists. Only Harry Kane with 29 goals and Raphinha with 26 goals have more.
A good start in the league as well
Borussia Dortmund have taken six points from their opening two Bundesliga matches this season, level with the league leaders. They defeated Hoffenheim 3-2 away and beat Hamburger SV 2-0 at home. Guirassy currently leads the team scoring charts with two Bundesliga goals and is also a strong candidate to score in this match.
According to DraftKings betting distribution, Borussia Dortmund have received almost 100% of the betting volume on the -130 line. The total goals line has moved from 2.5 to 3.5.
