According to Feyenoord reporter Dennis van Eersel, Nelson will miss Wednesday's Champions League match against Barcelona. Feyenoord later confirmed that Nelson will not travel with the team to Spain, while Feyenoord forward Schaken has been included in the squad for the match.

The 26-year-old Nelson joined Feyenoord as a free agent last week. The winger became a free agent after leaving Arsenal and signed a contract with Feyenoord until the summer of 2027.
Van Bronckhorst had hoped last Friday that Nelson's work permit could be completed before the match against Barcelona, but the permit has still not been approved. As a result, Nelson also missed Feyenoord's away match against NEC Nijmegen last Saturday, where Feyenoord eventually won 3-1 in Nijmegen.
Nelson previously played for Feyenoord on loan. In the 2021/22 season, he made 32 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists.
Anis Moussa previously missed the match against NEC Nijmegen but has already travelled with the team to Barcelona. Van Bronckhorst is very likely to put him in the starting lineup, which will be announced on Wednesday.
Feyenoord will face Barcelona away from home on Wednesday local time. Their first home match in the Champions League league phase is scheduled for October 14, when Feyenoord will host Como in Rotterdam.
