Manchester United have collected only four points from their first three Premier League matches of the new season, a major contrast to the strong form under Carrick last season. Red Devils legend Wayne Rooney issued a warning: Carrick needs to deliver results immediately and cannot rely on waiting until the next transfer window to fix the team's problems. He also criticized United's summer transfer business.

United's opening run has been full of ups and downs: they suffered a surprise away defeat to newly promoted Hull City in the first round; returned home to win 5-2 against Ipswich Town; and in the previous away match against Everton, they took the lead twice but were pegged back twice. The team have conceded six goals in three matches, exposing defensive weaknesses.

Rooney spoke about his former teammate Carrick on a podcast: "When you manage Manchester United, you have to understand the huge pressure that comes with the job, and you do not have much time. You must do everything possible to strengthen the squad, rather than waiting six months or a year and regretting, 'I should have done something back then.'"

"Of course we want to compete for the Champions League. But to return to that level, we have to recognize reality: the team has not reached that standard yet. Arsenal have spent the past five years building step by step, and you can see progress every year."

Carrick has publicly said he is satisfied with the current squad, but Rooney disagrees: "I know Michael has said publicly that he is happy with the players he has, but I don't think any manager is ever truly satisfied. Managers always have to say the right things in public, but he does not have time to simply wait until next year. He cannot think, 'I will solve the defensive problems next summer.' More and more American owners are looking for immediate results."

Rooney also discussed captain Bruno Fernandes' mindset. Manchester United only signed three midfielders and a second-choice goalkeeper this summer, and Rooney believes those additions are unlikely to satisfy Bruno.

"I really admire Bruno, he is outstanding. Inside, he must be shouting: 'Bring me some help. I give everything and I need people to support me.' But the club's recruitment has not achieved that."

"You cannot expect to challenge for the Premier League title with just these four new signings. This group of players needs more support. We are Manchester United, a club that has won the Premier League and Champions League many times. Fans still carry those expectations, but objectively speaking, the team is still far from that level."
