Official: Augsburg midfielder Jakic joins PAOK on loan with purchase option

On September 9 Beijing time, PAOK officially announced that Augsburg midfielder Jakic has joined the club on loan, with a purchase option included.

PAOK Football Club announced the signing of Kristijan Jakic from Augsburg. The agreement between the two sides is a one-year loan contract with a purchase option.

Kristijan Jakic was born in Croatia on May 14, 1997, and primarily plays as a defensive midfielder.

He began his football career at Mlacaj-Runovic Football Club at the age of seven before later entering the Imotski youth academy. In 2017, he joined Lokomotiva Zagreb; during the 2017-18 season, he played on loan for Istra, where he delivered impressive performances.

His outstanding performances attracted the attention of Dinamo Zagreb, who signed him in the summer of 2020. Wearing the Dinamo shirt, Jakic quickly established himself as a regular starter and produced strong performances in the Champions League and Europa League.

In the summer of 2021, Jakic moved to the Bundesliga and joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan. In his first season, he was a key member of the team that won the Europa League title, as Frankfurt defeated Rangers in the final penalty shootout. Thanks to his excellent performances, he completed a permanent transfer to Frankfurt in May 2022.

In January 2024, Jakic joined Augsburg on loan and completed a permanent transfer in May of the same year, signing a four-year contract.

At international level, Jakic made his Croatia senior national team debut in October 2021. Before that, he had represented Croatia's youth teams at various levels. In 2026, he was included in Croatia's World Cup squad.

The honours Jakic has won so far include: the Europa League title with Eintracht Frankfurt, two Croatian league titles and one Croatian Cup title with Dinamo Zagreb.
