Mourinho Appears to Respond to Raul: Pressing Can Be Trained and Should Not Only Be Criticized

According to Mundo Deportivo, Raul and Mourinho offered their comments on Real Madrid's 2-1 Champions League victory over Inter Milan, with Mourinho appearing to respond to Raul's related evaluation.

Real Madrid legend Raul served as a Movistar commentator for the first time, taking part in the coverage of the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Inter Milan. After the match, he said: “The most important thing is that we got the three points. It was not easy because Inter Milan are a team with a very mature system, while Real Madrid were also missing players in midfield.”

Raul also discussed the pressure Real Madrid faced in the final stages of the match. He said: “Real Madrid’s goals both came from mistakes when Inter Milan were playing out from the back, and afterwards Real Madrid also created several very clear chances. Inter Milan’s goal made the ending full of suspense, but for starting the Champions League campaign, this was a good result.”

After the match, Mourinho was interviewed by Movistar and learned about Raul’s earlier comments. Speaking about the game, Mourinho said: “I want to praise my players, because pressing can be trained, including how to press and where to press. After saying this, Mourinho looked at the camera and said: “It cannot only be criticism; we should also acknowledge some of the things we did well.” These remarks appeared to be a direct response to Raul’s earlier evaluation.
