Real Sociedad Coach Matarazzo: I Would Rather Win 4-3 Than Draw 0-0

After Real Sociedad drew 0-0 at home with Celta Vigo in the sixth round of La Liga, coach Matarazzo spoke to the media.

Matarazzo valued Real Sociedad keeping a clean sheet against Celta Vigo, but it was clear that he would have preferred to secure a victory. The New Jersey-born coach had to watch the match against the Vigo side from a box at Anoeta Stadium after being sent off in the game against Espanyol.

Matarazzo analyzed the 0-0 draw: "It was a fair result for both teams. We had a very good chance in the first half, and if that had gone in, the match would have been completely different. We did not allow the opponent to create chances, but our pace was not enough in the second half. There are still many areas where we need to improve."

When asked about the team's performance in the early stage of the season, he said: "Overall, I am very satisfied with the team's potential, but there are still many things to improve. In recent weeks, we have mainly focused on defense and set pieces. Attack has always been part of our considerations, but this time we focused on it a little less. We must find a balance."

Real Sociedad finally kept a clean sheet after a long period, but it did not make Matarazzo feel satisfied. "I would rather win this match 4-3, but if we can keep a clean sheet, there will be fewer discussions about us from the outside. I know how important a clean sheet is, but I would rather score goals and win matches."

Finally, he was asked how he viewed Celta's Guedes going down inside the penalty area and appealing for a penalty. "In my opinion, it was a penalty, but I do not want to complain. Sometimes decisions go in your favor, and sometimes they go in favor of the opponent."
