French Media: Gabriel Jesus Eager to Win the Champions League After Joining Barcelona, Hopes to Fulfill Dream in Spain

According to a report by Sport cited by Foot Mercato, Gabriel Jesus is eager to win the Champions League after joining Barcelona.

Jesus has finished as a Champions League runner-up twice, with Manchester City in 2021 and Arsenal last season. He hopes to fulfill his dream on his third attempt. Speaking at his unveiling, Jesus said: “Ever since I knew there was an opportunity to come to Barcelona, I have kept winning the Champions League in my mind. This is my dream.”

The 29-year-old Jesus has already accumulated extensive Champions League experience, making 57 appearances and scoring 26 goals, and he is set to embark on his 10th European campaign. He will also compete with Raphinha for a place in the forward line. This Wednesday, Jesus will face Feyenoord, the same team against which he scored his first Champions League goal for Manchester City in 2017.

Jesus is not the only Barcelona signing this summer who will enter the Champions League under a new identity. Anthony Gordon scored 10 Champions League goals for Newcastle United last season, five of them from penalties; Adeyemi, meanwhile, made 48 appearances in the competition for Borussia Dortmund and scored 16 goals. Rodri's numbers are relatively modest, with three goals in total, but one of them was especially significant: he scored the winning goal against Inter Milan in the 2023 Champions League final, helping Manchester City lift the trophy. For Jesus, this new European journey in Barcelona also gives him another opportunity to erase one of the major regrets of his career.
