Former Manchester United assistant coach Rene Meulensteen believes Manchester United need to consider strengthening and upgrading the goalkeeper position occupied by Ramaj: “Don't get me wrong, he had a pretty good season last year and made several excellent saves that helped the team a lot. But would I put him in the same category as Schmeichel, Van der Sar and De Gea? I wouldn't. Can he develop to that level? It's hard to say.

I have my doubts about that, because I always do my detailed research. There is one thing I noticed about him: although he is still young, the problems he showed at the World Cup were things I had already spotted.

I think sharp-eyed observers might judge him based on the goal against Everton—the opponent's opening goal went in at the near post. In my view, when it comes to strengthening the team, the focus should be on the two most important positions on the pitch: goalkeeper and striker.

If a striker can score consistently and the goalkeeper can keep clean sheets, then the team has a very good chance of winning matches.”
