Ranocchia: Inter Losing to Real Madrid Is Acceptable, Their Performance at the Bernabeu Was Excellent

Former Inter Milan captain Ranocchia discussed his former club's defeat to Real Madrid in an interview with the media.

“If you make two mistakes against a team like Real Madrid, you will pay the price. Unfortunately, that is how it happened, but Inter Milan's reaction was excellent. Going 0-2 down after 26 minutes at the Bernabeu would have made the match much worse for many teams, but Inter Milan remained very stable in terms of teamwork, mentality and control of the game. What lessons should Chivu take from his European campaign?

“I don't think he needs to take any lessons from this. When you go to Madrid, you know you can win or lose. What he needs to focus on is the performance, especially what Inter Milan have built over these years. That is this team's strength. They must continue playing this way, because losing to Real Madrid is acceptable.”

Josep Martinez's mistake will inevitably be discussed, although he responded afterward.

“That was a technical mistake. When a goalkeeper makes such a mistake, it can be psychologically difficult, but he is mentally strong. He recovered and also made several great saves to preserve the result. He needs to start again from this point; technical mistakes can happen.”

Inter Milan remain competitive in European competitions.
