Sweden Coach Potter Updates Kulusevski's Injury: He Is Actually Very Close to Returning

Sweden head coach Graham Potter shared positive news about Dejan Kulusevski's recovery, suggesting that the Tottenham forward is close to making his long-awaited return.

The 26-year-old winger previously underwent knee cartilage surgery and endured a lengthy spell on the sidelines, having not played for more than 15 months. Both the club and national team are now preparing for his return to match fitness.

Potter Discusses Kulusevski's Recovery Progress

Speaking about the attacker's recovery progress, national team coach Potter praised Kulusevski's resilience during a complicated rehabilitation process.

Potter confirmed that the Sweden international is getting closer and closer to returning to action and could potentially feature in Sweden's upcoming autumn international fixtures. He told SVT: "He is actually very close. I have been very impressed with the way he has handled the injury."

"We have to be careful with him. I hope he can be with us for the September or October matches, but first we have to communicate with Dejan and Tottenham."

Potter reiterated Kulusevski's importance to Sweden, describing him as a world-class player whose character and technical ability can significantly improve the team's overall level.

Although the national team still hopes to bring him back, any decision will be made after close consultation with Tottenham's medical team to avoid rushing his comeback.

Kulusevski Experienced a Minor Setback During His Tottenham Return Process

Kulusevski had previously provided a major boost to Tottenham by returning to full-team training after nearly 500 days out.

He then came close to making his official match return and was included in Tottenham's Premier League squad for the away match against Nottingham Forest.

However, a "small issue" emerged during preparations, and Tottenham ultimately took a cautious approach by leaving him out of the match.

Given the severity of his previous knee injury and the length of his absence, the decision was a precautionary measure.

Despite this minor setback, Kulusevski's recovery remains on track.
