Szoboszlai Equalizes, Araujo Provides Brilliant Backheel Assist

Liverpool equalized in the 40th minute, with the goal scored by Szoboszlai and the assist coming from Araujo's brilliant backheel pass.

Liverpool controlled most of the first half but conceded the opening goal.

During the opening 45 minutes, Liverpool had more control of the match, but Marcos Llorente scored first to give Atletico Madrid the lead at Anfield. Llorente appears to be very comfortable scoring at this venue. If not for a world-class save from Alisson Becker to deny Julian Alvarez's effort, the Spanish side could have doubled their advantage.

Liverpool continued to threaten Atletico's defense. Alexander Isak, Bradley Barcola and Florian Wirtz all came close to breaking Jan Oblak's stubborn resistance, but they were unable to change the score.

High pressing creates an opportunity, and Araujo provides a backheel assist.

In the 40th minute, Liverpool finally found a breakthrough through intense pressing. Milos Kerkez won the ball from the opponent, drove forward, and then played it to Barcola. Barcola's shot was saved by Oblak, and Szoboszlai collected the rebound before carrying the ball into the penalty area.

The ball took a deflection inside the penalty area and fell to Araujo. The player on loan from Barcelona delivered a backheel pass inside the box, sending the ball directly into the path of Szoboszlai's run. Szoboszlai did not hesitate and fired a first-time shot, sending the ball past Oblak and into the net as the home crowd erupted.

The equalizer came from a sequence of continuous teamwork.

There were three key elements in the goal: Kerkez's interception and forward run, Barcola's shot creating a second chance, and Araujo's backheel setup inside the penalty area. Szoboszlai only needed to finish the final touch, and he did exactly that.

For Liverpool, the equalizer finally turned their first-half possession advantage into a reward on the scoreboard. For Araujo, the assist also showed his ability to contribute in attack, not only in defense.
