Inzaghi: The 10-minute 'blackout' frustrated me; if we relax, we concede two goals

In the second round of the Coppa Italia, Palermo defeated Mantova 5-2 at home to advance smoothly to the round of 16. After the match, Palermo head coach Filippo Inzaghi was interviewed and spoke about the team's performance and the competition in the new Serie B season.

Regarding the period when his team conceded two goals in a row, Inzaghi said: “You all know me. That 10-minute ‘blackout’ made me very unhappy. Winning is never easy, and getting back in front after being equalized is even harder. This problem must be solved. I do not like this situation at all.”

However, Inzaghi also believed the team's overall performance deserved recognition: “We rotated 10 to 11 players, and they have not yet played a full 90 minutes. The team started very well, and we should have scored a few more goals in the first 30 minutes. The drop in performance afterward was something I expected, but we then recovered our form very well.”

“We are very satisfied with the result. It was a very good match. We also gave opportunities to some players who have had less playing time, and I got the answers I wanted. We must remember that this is what Serie B is like — if you relax even a little, you will concede two goals.”

Speaking about Pedà's injury, Inzaghi revealed: “He sprained his ankle. However, his performance after coming on was still good, and we expect to have him back on Monday.”

Looking ahead to the new Serie B season, Inzaghi emphasized that the team must remain focused throughout: “It has to be like this for the entire season. We know our squad is strong, and we also know we must give everything. Many other teams are strong as well, and some teams are very, very strong, but they do not receive as much attention as we do.”

“We know how difficult this is, and tonight's match has already shown that. We must remain consistent because there are traps everywhere in matches, especially at the start of the season. Now we need to recover our fitness as quickly as possible and prepare for Monday night's match. That will be another difficult and complicated game.”

Inzaghi was also satisfied with the team's home performances in the new season: “I am very pleased with our performances in the first three home matches. We have continued the momentum from last season, and last year we were almost perfect at home.”
