Rogers Misses Out on Man of the Match After Four Assists, Calls It 'Criminal'

Chelsea star Morgan Rogers was left stunned after missing out on the Man of the Match award following last night's 6-3 victory over Leeds United.

Chelsea completed a comeback at Stamford Bridge to win the nine-goal thriller, with Rogers in excellent form and providing four assists.

However, the Man of the Match award did not go to Rogers, but instead to his teammate Cole Palmer, who scored twice on the night.

"Mate, I got four assists!"

Rogers was clearly unhappy with the decision, describing the outcome with the words "mental" and "criminal."

A video posted by Sky Sports Football shows Rogers and Palmer debating the Man of the Match award, with Rogers saying: "Mate, I got four assists!" "This is criminal!"

The gap between statistics and awards

For Rogers, the decision did seem somewhat harsh. At the same time, when the team should be the main focus, being so concerned about an individual award may not be a positive sign.

That said, making such a significant contribution without receiving recognition is certainly frustrating. In recent years, more people have felt that Palmer appears to be a media favorite, even when his form has not always been consistent.

The transition from Villa to Chelsea

Rogers made a high-profile move from Aston Villa to Chelsea this summer, and so far he has clearly not disappointed.

The England international performed impressively at Villa, recording double-digit goals and assists in two consecutive seasons and helping the club win the Europa League last season.

Rogers has now scored two goals and provided four assists this season, and if this Chelsea side makes major progress under new manager Xabi Alonso, he will play a key role.

The 24-year-old has developed a strong partnership with Palmer, and if they can maintain consistent performances, the pair could undoubtedly form one of the best attacking duos in the Premier League.
