Ballon d'Or Official: Nominees to Be Announced on September 8, Award Ceremony Set for October 26

According to news on September 1 Beijing time, the Ballon d'Or official announced that the nomination lists for the 2026 Ballon d'Or awards will be revealed on September 8, and the award ceremony will be held on October 26.

After the nomination lists are announced, an international jury composed of professional journalists will conduct the voting. The jury consists of one representative each from the top 100 countries in the FIFA men's world rankings and the top 50 countries in the FIFA women's world rankings. The jury will vote based on the following three criteria: decisive individual performances, team achievements and honors won, and conduct both on and off the pitch along with fair play.

The jury will select 10 players from the shortlist and rank them. The first-place player will receive 15 points, with the points decreasing accordingly, and the 10th-place player will receive 1 point. The player with the highest score will win the Ballon d'Or.
