Liverpool have officially announced the signing of 18-year-old French forward N'Guessan. The €5 million deal appears to offer strong value, but many fans remain cautious: will he become a major future asset for the attack, or a promising investment with significant uncertainty? Although several major clubs had tracked the youngster, Chelsea had previously offered €8 million but failed to secure his signature. Liverpool took advantage of his contract situation nearing expiration and completed a low-cost deal. Interestingly, after completing the signing, he will not immediately arrive at Anfield. He will first join Brest on loan to play in Ligue 1, and is expected to officially become a Liverpool player in January next year. The club's plan is clear: they do not want to rush him into the high-intensity environment of the Premier League, instead allowing him to develop gradually in France while reducing the pressure of an immediate move to English football and continuing to monitor his progress. This approach is a common strategy among elite clubs when developing and securing young talents. However, investments in potential always involve uncertainty. At 18 years old, his body is still developing, and no one can guarantee that his talent will fully translate. Many academy players who produce outstanding youth-level statistics fail to reach the same level after entering senior football. Liverpool currently have sufficient immediate attacking options, so signing N'Guessan is not aimed at solving an urgent short-term need but rather at preparing for the squad's future over the next two or three years. Investing a relatively small amount for a high ceiling carries manageable risk, but he should not be labeled as the next superstar too soon. His performances during his Ligue 1 loan spell will be the key measure of his quality as a prospect.
