Only 10 unbeaten teams remain, with Arsenal, Paris and Bayern adopting different title strategies

After several rounds of intense competition in the new European league season, only ten teams across the five major leagues remain unbeaten. With the Bundesliga having played only two rounds, the number of unbeaten teams in each of the other four major leagues is no more than two.

The Bundesliga was the last of the five major leagues to begin, and Bayern Munich ended their winning streak after drawing with Schalke 04. Currently, Augsburg, Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund and promoted side Elversberg are the four teams temporarily leading the standings with two consecutive victories.

By comparison, Paris Saint-Germain have had a much worse start, failing to win any of their first three league matches. They drew with Lille and Rennes in their first two games and then lost to Monaco in the latest match, showing none of their former dominance. Although the five major leagues each have their own characteristics, it is clear that title-winning teams in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga do not need to go all out from the very beginning. They only need to find the right moments to produce outstanding performances over the long season to remain in a favorable position for the championship. The fiercely competitive Premier League is completely different, as teams seem to have to fight for points from the opening stage.

Looking back at the early years of the Premier League, teams did not place too much emphasis on collecting points at the start. The Manchester United and Arsenal rivalry often truly intensified only later in the season. However, with the rise of Chelsea and Manchester City, Ferguson had to adjust his slow-start strategy, and the battle for the Premier League title now begins from the very first round.
