ESPN: Vasco Have Not Made Formal Offer for Richarlison, Relationship Between Player and Tottenham Has Deteriorated

According to ESPN, Richarlison's future at Tottenham remains uncertain, and the relationship between the two sides has become very poor. Tottenham are still demanding around €20 million to sell the Brazilian forward, and as of now, the club have not received any formal offer from Vasco.

The report states that Vasco president Pedrinho has indeed maintained frequent communication with Richarlison, but ESPN understands that Vasco have not yet officially opened specific transfer negotiations with Tottenham.

Tottenham have taken a firm stance on letting Richarlison leave, with one reason being the relationship between both sides has continued to deteriorate over the past few months. Last season, Richarlison rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, and the move was considered beneficial for all parties at the time.

Before the summer transfer window closed this year, Richarlison also abandoned a return to Everton at the final moment. At that time, Tottenham, Everton and the player had effectively been close to reaching an agreement for the Premier League internal transfer.

Last week, Trabzonspor offered Richarlison a salary package worth €10 million per season, close to 60 million Brazilian reais, but the Turkish club ultimately could not meet Tottenham's transfer fee demands.

Richarlison is now completely out of Tottenham's plans. His contract with the club originally had only one season remaining and was due to expire in June 2027. At present, he is training separately from the team, but he is still doing normal ball work, with training times also following the team's usual schedule. Tottenham have continued to pay his wages on time.

ESPN reports that Tottenham are handling Richarlison's situation very carefully and hope to avoid leaving any legal loopholes, preventing the player from seeking to terminate his contract with legitimate grounds and ultimately leaving the club without receiving a transfer fee.

On the evening of September 9 local time, Tottenham's management learned through Brazilian media reports that Richarlison might seek to terminate his current contract. However, as of now, the club are not concerned about the situation.

In addition, Tottenham have the option to automatically extend Richarlison's contract for one more season, until June 2028. According to the contract terms, this decision belongs entirely to Tottenham, and Richarlison himself has no right to veto it.

Although Vasco have always hoped to sign Richarlison, returning to Brazil has never been the player's preferred option at this stage. Richarlison still prefers to consider projects from overseas clubs starting in January 2027, with Saudi Arabia and Turkey remaining destinations under consideration.

Unless an unexpected turn occurs, Richarlison joining Vasco would most likely only be a short-term spell lasting until December 2026, around four months, as a temporary option before he returns abroad to play at the beginning of next year.
