Supercomputer Predicts This Season's Champions League Winner: Arsenal and Bayern Among Top Favorites

Opta's supercomputer predicts this season's Champions League, with Bayern Munich ranked first and Arsenal second.

Among the five Spanish teams participating this season, Real Betis and Villarreal are expected to be eliminated during the league phase, while Atletico Madrid are also predicted to narrowly miss out on the knockout stage. Atletico are projected to finish 22nd among the 24 qualifying places, and are likely to face a strong opponent in the first round after reaching the knockout stage.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have better prospects. According to the supercomputer's prediction, Barcelona will finish fourth and Real Madrid seventh, with both teams directly advancing to the Champions League round of 16 and avoiding the playoff round. Barcelona's probability of reaching the final is 14.41%, while Real Madrid's is 10.39%.

The predicted top eight teams in the league phase are Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester City, Barcelona, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan in order.

Among the title favorites, Bayern Munich and Arsenal are considered the strongest contenders. Arsenal have a 21.18% probability of winning the title, Bayern Munich 19.90%, and Manchester City rank third with 12.03%. Among Spanish teams, Barcelona have the highest title probability at 6.97%, followed by Real Madrid at 5.13%. Atletico Madrid's title probability is only 0.60%, Villarreal's is 0.26%, and Real Betis' is 0.17%.

As the winners of the last two Champions League editions, Paris Saint-Germain hope to win a third consecutive title this season, but Opta's supercomputer estimates their probability of winning again at only 7.73%.
