Tuttosport: Vlahovic Suspended for One Match Over Alleged Insulting Behavior, Besiktas Preparing Appeal

According to Tuttosport, Vlahovic has been suspended for one match by the Turkish Professional Football Disciplinary Committee over alleged insulting behavior, and Besiktas are preparing to file an appeal.

Several days have passed since Besiktas defeated Fenerbahce, but the Turkish derby continues to generate discussion. The Turkish Professional Football Disciplinary Committee (PFDK) made its decision, announcing a one-match suspension for Vlahovic. The former Juventus striker clashed with former Inter Milan player Skriniar during the match against Fenerbahce, and both players were shown yellow cards. Why was Vlahovic suspended despite not receiving a red card? The legal office of the Turkish Football Federation submitted the player, born in 2000, to the disciplinary committee over alleged insulting behavior and cited Article 41 of the disciplinary regulations. Vlahovic was therefore suspended, a decision that angered Besiktas supporters. Skriniar did not receive any punishment. The clash between Juventus and Inter Milan was played out on Turkish soil, recalling the confrontation between Bastoni and Kalulu several months earlier. Besiktas have already stated that they are preparing to appeal.

The clash between the two former Serie A players occurred around the 50th minute of the match, but the tense atmosphere had appeared much earlier. Skriniar scored the temporary 1-0 goal in the 26th minute and repeatedly provoked Vlahovic throughout the match. Video footage showed Skriniar repeatedly making an obscene hand gesture toward Vlahovic. Shortly after the second half began, the two players nearly came to blows. During a possession incident, Vlahovic openly complained that Skriniar had allegedly touched the ball with his arm.

The emotions between the two sides then escalated. The two players confronted each other head-to-head, after which Skriniar grabbed Vlahovic by the neck and threw him to the ground. The referee saw the entire incident and showed both players a yellow card, without issuing a red card. The match continued, and in the 73rd minute, Vlahovic scored the goal that helped Besiktas secure a final 2-1 victory, then celebrated in front of Skriniar.
