According to ANSA, Cagliari midfielder Alessandro Romano has received approval from FIFA to change his sporting nationality and could be called up by Italy.

Born in 2006, Romano was born and raised in Switzerland and previously made appearances for Switzerland's youth teams. In 2022, he moved to Italy and joined Roma's youth academy. Switzerland head coach Murat Yakin previously tried to persuade him not to switch national teams, but Romano would prefer to wear the Italy shirt.
Now, whether Romano will be called up will be decided by Italy head coach Roberto Mancini. Mancini has previously suggested that he also hopes to select players with dual nationalities, just as he called up Retegui during his previous spell in charge of Italy.
