In a Bundesliga second-round match that concluded on Saturday, Borussia Dortmund came back from two goals down to score three times and beat Hoffenheim 3-2 away from home.

According to statistics, this was Kovac's 50th Bundesliga match in charge of Borussia Dortmund. The Croatian coach has recorded 33 wins, 8 draws and 9 losses, collecting 107 points in total and setting a club record for the highest points tally by a Dortmund head coach in their first 50 Bundesliga matches.
Kovac took over Dortmund midway through February 2025. Although the team lost his first two Bundesliga matches in charge, he still guided them into the top four that season and secured Champions League qualification.
Last season under Kovac, Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga, reducing the gap to Bayern Munich to 16 points.
