Summer Signing Stassin: I Hope to Help Sevilla Return to the Top Six and European Competition

In an interview with Sevilla FC+, Stassin said he hopes to help Sevilla return to the top six and back into European competition.

Stassin joined Sevilla on the final day of the transfer window. The Belgian forward said he was "very happy" and "very excited" to begin "this new challenge" in Spain. Stassin said: "For me, this is a new adventure, and it is at a big club with many fans and high expectations."

His Belgian compatriot and former Sevilla player Lukebakio previously encouraged him to join the Nervion-based club. Stassin said: "When I went to the national team, he was still in the youth setup, so we would meet, and he talked to me. He always told me: 'Come on, this is a club that suits you very well. I believe you will improve, score goals, and so on.' He is a great guy."

Stassin described himself as "a number 9." He said: "I like scoring goals and finishing, but I also like being involved in the team's play. I like combining with teammates and making runs. I don't mind providing assists either, as long as we can win and enjoy the game on the pitch."

Regarding Garcia-Pimienta's requirements, Stassin said he will adapt: "At every club I have played for, I have either played with two strikers or as a lone striker, so I will make adjustments according to the coach's demands. I prefer to be the furthest player forward and let the wingers support crosses, but I can also play with two strikers without any problem."

Stassin already knows his new attacking partner Robbie Ure: "I know a little about him because he used to play for Anderlecht. Some of my friends sent me messages and mentioned him."

In addition, Stassin said he is ready to make his debut against Espanyol if needed: "I am ready. In the end, it depends on the coach's decision, but I will do everything I can to train well and try to get playing time on Sunday."

Stassin said: "I know this club because of the Europa League and all the trophies they have won. I know it is a very big club that many people have talked about. After I truly arrived here, I also saw that it is a big club, with great fans and a very beautiful city. The local people are really friendly."

Speaking about his goals at Nervion, Stassin said: "I hope to regain the form I had in France and Ligue 1, work hard to have an excellent season, help the team return to the top six, play European competition again, enjoy the matches, score goals, win games, and find my good feeling again."

Stassin believes the style of Spanish football suits him well, and La Liga could be an ideal league for his continued development. He said: "For me, this is a style I really like because football here is about playing football, with an emphasis on possession and technique, with less physical contact and fewer long balls. This is a league I have always liked. I have always said that one day I want to play in Spain. Because I am still young, going to a major league like England would be different. The way football is played in Spain suits me better, so I am very excited to see everything."

Stassin also knows how to handle pressure: "When I joined Saint-Etienne, I also faced a lot of pressure because I was the club's most expensive player, so I was always under that pressure. Now I also need to learn how to manage pressure and try to deliver my best performances."

He also revealed that one of the things he is most excited about is the chance to make his debut at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium: "They told me the atmosphere here is amazing. When the music starts at the beginning of every match, it creates a very special feeling. Especially the famous match against Betis. That will be a wonderful experience, so I really want to feel all of this, see the atmosphere in the stadium, and hopefully win games like that."

The Sevilla forward also mentioned his striker idols: "Lewandowski and Benzema are both number 9s that I really like. I prefer being a number 9 rather than a winger because obviously I am a striker. But yes, I really like Benzema's style of play, and I also like Lewandowski's style of play. They are both great players."
