Official news: Chelsea's new goalkeeper Damian Martinez has switched to the No. 1 shirt.
Chelsea officially confirmed that Damian Martinez has changed to Chelsea's No. 1 shirt.
The new signing, who joined the club this summer, initially chose the No. 26 shirt and wore it in the 4-3 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
However, after Robert Sanchez joined Como on loan, the No. 1 shirt became available, and Damian Martinez ultimately chose to take over the number.
To commemorate the number change and accommodate affected fans, Damian Martinez said he would sign "Martinez No. 26" shirts purchased through Chelsea's official fan store or official website.
